‘पंचायत’ में गांव की सुबह 9 बजे वाली दोपहर का भी ज़िक्र है, शाम 7 बजे के सन्नाटे का भी और दो रुपए पीस बिकने वाले पेठे का भी। गांव के बाहर वाले पेड़ का भूत भी है, शादी में रुठ जाने वाला कमसिन उमर का शौकीन दूल्हा भी और रिंकिया के पापा यानी प्रधान-पति भी हैं। पंचायत में गांव के सारे बिंब उनको मनोरंजक बनाने वाली नज़र के साथ पेश किए गए हैं और यही वजह है कि इसे देखते हुए हिंदी के पाठकों को श्रीलाल शुक्ला के कालजयी उपन्यास ‘राग दरबारी’ की याद हो आएगी।
