डिज़्नी-हाॅटस्टार पर आई आठ क़िस्तों की सीरीज़ ‘चौरासी’ नई हिंदी के युवा उपन्यासकार सत्या व्यास के चर्चित उपन्यास चौरासी पर आधारित है। उपन्यास और ये सीरीज़ अस्सी के दशक में पंजाब में हिंसा की घटनाओं और इंदिरा गांधी की हत्या के बाद देश भर में हुए सिख विरोधी दंगों की पृष्ठभूमि पर आधारित है।
The film is not marked by which ideological standpoint wins in the end of the film, instead it is about how the viewers see a savage tigress. In the hands of a lesser filmmaker, Sherni could have been a survival drama. But the film as we see it is more of a cautionary tale. It is a story that begs one to question what we strive for.
The biggest issue with the series Sunflower is the presence of way too many subplots and even the main plot looks like a subplot here.

It is a film that finds its strength in its emotional core, not a rationale that runs high through the narrative.
